two weeks in...

two weeks getting to know you. two weeks of hibernating from the world. of cozy snuggles and broken sleep. of first gummy smiles, and amazing friends bringing delicious food. of a big sister falling madly in love with you. two short weeks and it's hard to believe you haven't always been here.

that evening light...

it started with a stand in...

i've been making an effort to keep my camera readily available, because as odd as it may sound, i haven't been taking as many spur of the moment photos lately. so when penny's little baby was sitting in the most perfect evening window light, i snapped a picture. penny asked what i was doing so i told her how pretty the light was at this time of day and i showed her the back of my camera so she could see for herself just how beautifully it photographs. she then decided to grace me with a better subject matter...

she just gets me...

a morning at the creek...

yesterday penny and i went on a little hunt for this creek that a friend had told us about. after a bit of wandering in the heat we finally found it! the water was cool, and our feet were happy. what is it about a body of water that is so mesmerizing? penny is happiest playing in it (especially with the added surprise of tadpoles), and i am happiest photographing it. it was a win win for us both.

all hail the self timer!

it's a funny thing, how being the one taking the pictures means you're never actually in the pictures. well the other day i made it a point to rectify that little situation. i set up the tripod, set the camera to self timer, let penny push the button, and boom... there we all are! i'm going to put a little bit of effort into doing this every so often. as it turns out, i think it's pretty important to have. for all of us!

and that reddish brown lump at the bottom of half the photos? that's barkley. he 100% refused to be completely in, or completely out, of the picture. i kinda love it!
