i decided today that i'd like to play along in the '10 on 10' series that have been making there way around. however, seeing as i JUST decided this, i didn't actually take any photos today. so here are 10 on 9... i'll get my act together next month.

a sick day, in black & white

it never occurred to me...

i knew when we moved from charlotte to atlanta that there would definitely be a period of transition for penny. i expected to sleep disturbances, i was prepared for the possibility of cranky afternoons, but what caught me completely off guard was just how much she asks for her best little bud that we left behind. penny has spent the last 9 months watching mr. wiley boone grow up. she saw him the day he was born, spent many an afternoon taking walks (or being pushed) around the neighborhood with him, and when we were moving the next morning, her very first kiddo sleepover was with her best friend, boone. she's named one of her dolls after him, and is constantly telling me which toys and books boone has at his house, as opposed to the ones at hers. ya see, when two mamas are best friends it's only natural that the kiddos follow suit. i knew this, and yet for some reason i am completely in awe at how much her little heart hurts to be apart from him. the first of many heartbreaks i'm sure, and though it kills me that every time we go somewhere these days she says "boone come too?", the ache is a little less knowing that they'll be friends for years to come... and then eventually husband and wife, but i won't get ahead of myself here.

penny: for christmas this year your gaga & pop pop gifted you this adorable little table and chairs, along with the most perfect wooden tea set to go with it. they are without a doubt your favorite gifts. it's been a hard few weeks for you, what with the traveling back and forth from charlotte to atlanta multiple times, packing up your beloved house, and relocating to a new city. there were times when you were so confused as to where you were going, staying, and sleeping, but you took it all in stride. when we set up your table in your new house, and sat down to tea, i could see that you were going to adjust here just fine. we may have one hundred boxes yet to unpack, but anytime i hear your little voice call out from the other room "mommy, tea time!", i drop what i'm doing and sit with you for the most delicious cup of tea in my entire life. it's my favorite time of the day...

52 weeks gone by in the blink of an eye. when i started this project i knew i would love having these photos, but i had no idea just how much it really would mean to me. i take hundreds of pictures of penny, but to pick out just one each week and jot down the memory that went along with it, it makes it all so much more meaningful. i can look back to photos from the very beginning and remember the exact moment that i clicked the shutter, what i was feeling, and all of penny's milestones along the way. i will absolutely be making a little book of her 52 moments from 2013, and with her birthday in just a few days, these are also 52 memories from her entire second year of life. it's pretty special, and i can't help but want to continue into 2014. who's with me?!?!
