it would appear as though the dreaded time has come... teething time! we've got all the tell tale signs going on here. drool, check! chomping everything in sight, check! disrupted naps, check! and more poops then you can shake a stick at... big check!
it started last week and i felt so bad for our poor little lady. she would only take a 30 minute nap, wake up super cranky, and then take another 30 minutes just to recover from it. so far today it's been a wee bit better. she at least took a 50 minute nap this morning, and woke up her normal smiley self. that's the little birdie i know and love! we're thinking about starting to do some sleep training to extend her naps and get her sleeping longer stretches at night, but mama needs to mentally prepare for that first. and as i've been a bit under the weather myself, that will just have to wait a few more days. we're using the methods described in this book, so if anyone out there has read it and done it, feel free to let me know how it worked out. the cry it out method just isn't for us, and this has a nice alternative. some friends of ours said it worked great for them and their little girl, so fingers crossed we get the same results! i'll be sure to let you know...
oh, hello again!
penny pics...
this has been a huge week for penny. all of a sudden she's doing real baby things. things like grasping a rattle for the first time, and giggling at mama's silly faces. she also cracks up at the sound of me laughing, which just might be the sweetest thing ever! she's constantly chatting up a storm these days. this gal has a lot to tell us about her first 11 weeks of life! right now they're kind of just grunty coo's, but we're starting to hear some actually "oooohhh"and "aaaahhhh" in there too. she seriously melts me into little pieces with every goofy grin. and let's not forget to mention the fact that she's started sleeping 6 and a half hour stretches between nursing at night. yes, mama is very pleased with that new trait indeed!
tomorrow we'll be taking her to my favorite cast iron hunting spot for the very first time. gotta get her used to these salvage trips at an early age. hopefully she enjoys it as much as her papa and i do. she is going to be my apprentice after all!
welp here's to another week flying by faster then i ever thought possible. i'll leave you with this little video i made yesterday. nothing fancy, it's just a bunch of random clips i had of miss penn. she's growing so fast i want to capture every single bit of her so i don't forget just how little she once was... enjoy, and happy weekend to all!
spring has sprung!
the past 2 days have been the most perfect 80 or so degrees ever! something about the arrival of spring, with a new little baby in our home, makes it so much more exciting then usual. yesterday we sat outside in the grass, i took off her teeny tiny socks, and let those naked baby toes feel the cool grass beneath them for the very first time. she loved it! she kept stretching out her toes, and kicking her legs... it was a happy moment indeed! it had me thinking about all the fun things we'll get to do this summer. like getting her a little kiddie pool, going for long walks in the park, and taking her on her first trip to the beach. this year summer is going to be epic, i can just feel it!
