all hail the self timer!

it's a funny thing, how being the one taking the pictures means you're never actually in the pictures. well the other day i made it a point to rectify that little situation. i set up the tripod, set the camera to self timer, let penny push the button, and boom... there we all are! i'm going to put a little bit of effort into doing this every so often. as it turns out, i think it's pretty important to have. for all of us!

and that reddish brown lump at the bottom of half the photos? that's barkley. he 100% refused to be completely in, or completely out, of the picture. i kinda love it!

the 52 project // 04

"A portrait of my daughter, once a week, every week, in 2015."

penny: you were a little under the weather most of this week, so much of our days were spent painting, playing dress up, and taking little walks around the neighborhood. i will say, you deal with the whole cooped up in the house thing WAY better then your mama. thank you for that, my little nugget.

linking up with jodi.

and now because it's pretty much a joke that i can keep these 52 posts to just one photo. here's a little peek at what the rest of our days looked like. sorry for the camera in your face all week penn, but that's apparently how mama dealt with your cold. hashtag... momlife &/or photographerproblems.

on sunday, with serious help from our friend lesli (the decor would not have been nearly as epic without her!), we threw together a little belated birthday party for our newly 3 year old. her actual birthday was on the third, but seeing as matt & i had a few out of town weddings scheduled we decided to push her party back a few weeks. thankfully at this age she didn't seem to mind in the least. though she did tell everyone who said "happy birthday" that it wasn't her birthday and she had already had it. she was really quite adamant about it! so the phrase "happy birthday PARTY!" ended up being thrown around a lot that day. the kiddos made english muffin pizzas, the adults sipped mimosas, and we all went to town on a mountain of vegan doughnuts. friends, family, and food. it was simple, and it was perfect!

happy birthday (PARTY), my little bug!!!
