week 34

penny: this year, on our yearly trip to busch gardens in williamsburg, va, you finally got to go on the bigger kid rides, ate some cotton candy (mind. blown.), went night swimming, and played nonstop with your older cousins. that last part being your favorite thing about the whole trip. you fell pretty hard for your cousin abby, and i think the feeling was definitely mutual.

week 35

penny: you and i took a little road trip up to charlotte and stayed with aunt steph and your little buddy boone for a few days. you were almost like a big sister to him while we were there. a big sister that comes complete with toy stealing and hitting. luckily though, the sweet moments were just as abundant.

week 36

penny: seen here practicing your bubble blowing skills. week 37

penny: you've been having a rather rough go of bedtime as of late. the tantrums were epic, the tears were plentiful, and frustration from all parties involved was evident. in the process of trying to figure out how to get you past this phase i turned to a tried and true method of parenting. bribery. and it worked! i promised you a very special ice cream date if you could go to bed without a single tear. you happily obliged, and we both scored some ice cream out of it. win win!

this family, this night, it was all almost too much. my heart felt torn wide open.

kelly and i had been emailing back and forth for awhile about getting together for a family shoot before she gave birth to her third child. she had an idea to bring a few things for the boys to play with, hang out by a lake, and just see what happens. and let me tell ya, what happened felt like pure magic. i simply fell in love with this family. i know i'll probably say this so many more times in my life, but i still can not believe that i get to do this for a living. lucky doesn't even begin to describe it...

i've known justin and lynn for quite a few years now, since before any of us had kids actually. so when they asked if i would come take some pictures of their family while i was in charlotte, it was a no brainer. dexter cracks me up with his typical 4.5 year old little boy antics, and miss winter is just as sweet and silly as they come. thanks pope family for letting me hang with you on this super sticky saturday morning...

a morning with Asher // atlanta ga family photographer

asher's family is about to move from this home of theirs, and they wanted some pictures of the little man just being himself in this gorgeous loft space before they move on. chasing around a very busy toddler isn't a bad way to spend a morning, and i could photograph chubby baby toes all day long. it's a win all around!

"A portrait of my daughter, once a week, every week, in 2014."

penny: since i got to be in a portrait with you i thought it fitting that the other 50% of your world gets a week to shine as well. this day wasn't particularly a fantastic day for you and i. we had our struggles, but nothing more than you just being two and a half and trying to give me a run for my money. as it happens on every weekday though, daddy got home from work and all was right with the world again. we took a nice little walk with the pups around our neighborhood, you ran like a maniac, and i got to snap a few pics in the most lovely sunset. it doesn't require much to turn our day around. me, you, and daddy... we're a pretty good team!
