the 52 project...

let's catch up on a month of posts now, shall we?!?!

“A portrait of my daughter, once a week, every week, in 2015.”

week 14

penny: squirrel is the most tolerant kitty in all the land, and for that reason, your most favorite four legged buddy.

week 15

penny: your cousins were in town visiting from NY for a whole week. we spent all of our days, and most of our nights, spending time with them. having older cousins around to entertain you nonstop was like a dream for you. your feet rarely touched the ground!

week 16

penny: i let you loose on a amazing puddle one morning. you ended up soaking wet and covered in mud. it was incredible!

week 17

penny: we spent a few days camping with your cousins. i'd estimate about 85% of your time there was spent catching tadpoles with your bare hands. if i could give you a lake in our backyard i'd do it in a heartbeat!

it feels so good to finally be all caught up!

penny: truth be told, i have no idea what's going on here, but i let you choose which photo of you and your friends would be our pick this week and this one here was your choice. it was a spring day that felt much like summer. the kind when you should end the day smelling of sunscreen but mama forgot it so we all just ended with sun kissed cheeks. the kind of day when you get takeout burritos because ain't nobody spending time in the kitchen. and the kind of day when you go home in your best buds pj's because we hadn't planned on staying out all day, but we didn't want the fun to end.

a family session // atlanta ga

i fall a little bit in love with every family i photograph. it sounds pretty corny, for sure, but looking back at these images i'm reminded of just how easily i was welcomed into this home. the smell of biscuits cooking, the avett brothers playing in the background, it was all just so comfortable right from the start. to make it all a little more ooey gooey and heartwarming, emily had asked me to come and photograph her family before she gave birth to her next baby because i had taken pictures of her nephew, asher, last summer. asher and his family now live a few minutes away and they would be stopping over later that afternoon for a little hello! being welcomed into these incredible families is one thing, but getting to watch these kids grow up is really what makes me a weepy mess at the drop of a hat. also, grandparents in town for a visit?!?! i was doomed to fall hard from the get go. what can i say, i wear this here heart forever on my sleeve!

the 52 project // playing catch up

"A portrait of my daughter, once a week, every week, in 2015."

08/52

penny: you and your pop pop have a pretty special relationship. you watch golf together, get the mail together, and even torment the heck out of each other. it's basically a very entertaining comedy act.

09/52

penny: this marks the third week in a row that you've had your cheerleading dress on in your 52 photo. it's an accurate representation of life these days. for some reason you think it's necessary for dancing, and you like to dance often. i'm kinda glad this ridiculous phase is properly documented!

10/52

penny: you make rainy day school pick ups a little bit brighter.
